I. The "Little Horn" Of The Fourth Imperial Kingdom.
A. Not mentioned in the first vision [Nebuchadnezzar's; Daniel 2].
1. In 2:40-45 we are only given the broad outline of the Fourth Kingdom that is followed by God's establishment of His Eternal Kingdom.
2. The only "hint" is 2:44 where we are told that there are "kings" in "those days" that are signified as "toes" of the feet of the image.
B. Described in Daniel's vision in chapter seven.
1. In 7:19-22 we are told of a "horn" that displaced three of the original "horns" and waged war against the saints and was overpowering them until the Ancient of Days came and the saints took possession of the Kingdom.
2. In 7:23-27 we are told that this last-to-arise "horn" will dominate the saints for a "time, times, and half a time" after which the Kingdom will be given to the saints.
C. Given more detail in Daniel's vision of chapter nine.
1. In 9:26-27 we are told that "the prince that shall come" will make a "firm covenant" for one "seven" (after 69 "sevens" have past and Messiah is "cut off" and the city and sanctuary are destroyed) and will break it "in the middle" of the 70th set of seven by putting a stop to sacrifice and grain offering.
2. This is the first time "the abomination" is mentioned and is tied to "one who makes desolate" until he is destroyed.
D. Given even more specific details in Daniel's vision of chapter eleven.
1. In 11:36-39 "the king" will exalt himself above every god and speak against the God of gods.
a. This paragraph immediately follows the phrase "...until the end time; becsuse it is still to come at the appointed time.
b. He will also "honor a god of fortresses" and overcome "the strongest of fortresses".
c. He will "bribe" the other "kings" to follow him.
2. In 11:40-45 the kings of the south and of the north will attack him and many specific details are given, including his establishment of himself in Israel and his ultimate destruction.
